Do this little exercise with me, open a blank page on the screen, or if you’re like me, a little “old school”, take out a pen, and a notebook.
Take a few minutes and write down everything you’re not happy with. I find that making a bulletin point list of the things that are wrong works best for me.
Example:
· Monies
· Work
· Family
· Relationships
· My body
· My eating habits
· My overall health
· My lack achievement
Now breathe, this is just where you are now, not where you have to stay for the rest of your life.
The important thing to realize at this stage is that you know what you’re not happy with, and that’s a good thing.
You’re probably thinking how is that a good thing? Well just bear with me, it will all come together.
First you need to answer one question:
Who do you want to be?
No I don’t mean what other person do you want to be. I’m asking what is, your ideal self, and ideal life like?
Here is a few questions to help you get started: What do you do for a living, hobbies, family, how do you act, and present yourself, how do you treat others, what are your mood like, are you retired or successful, rich or poor, where do you live, what does it look like, what do you look like?
You can also use your “what’s wrong” list above to generate thoughts and ideas about your ideal life.
Take as long as you need to think of your best self, and your ideal life.
Write it all down, whatever comes to mind and in whatever order it comes to you. Don’t analyze what you’re writing, don’t focus on grammar and do not sensor it.
Just let it flow. Write at the speed of thought, if you can. Remember these notes are just for you, and your future life.
What you have in your hand is a blue print of your best self and the life you want, and now you’re thinking ok, Robert, I have been here before, made my lists and nothing changed!
My answer is: I will tell you how to change whatever it is you want to change so, you too, can wake up one day, and be the best self you imagined…
So do check my blog tomorrow for the next part in Creating the Life You Want.
