#2) Day 1 of the rest of your life…

Yes it is true, today is, day one of the rest of your life…

My first question to you:

What are you going to do with the rest of your life?

Take a minute and let that sink in, now consider that you can make the rest of your life exactly what you want it to be, you can live your dreams, you can get a new job, a new career, a new partner, a new (insert your desire!)

I am not kidding, YOU CAN, You are ABLE to change your situation, your life, you can actually get and do, almost anything that is humanly possible.

Will it happen over night? -NO

Will it be easy? -NO

Will it be worth it? -YES…

So how do we change our situation? Well I use a few steps with my clients, and here is the cliff notes version.

1, Take a look in your “Rear view Mirror”: So take a few minutes and look in the rear view mirror of your life, and if you are like most people, it is full of ups and downs, joy and tears, good and bad. Yes your not alone, every person I have ever talked to has a past filled with emotions, “what ifs”, “would have and should haves”, and “If I only I get a chance for a do over”…

2, Accept: Now look at were you are today, and accept that all of your past choices, brought you to were you are today!

Your past choices brought you to the life you live, the monies you make, to the partner you have….To reading my blog, right now, for better or worse… Some of you may think, I didn’t choose this, it happened too me….

You are correct, things do happen to us, I know that very well, for example, I was on top of my world, at the age of 28, when I was diagnosed with cancer, I had goals and a career, and a wife to take care of…  It all changed, faster than I could ever imagine…. I lost everything everything I worked for. The cancer treatments, left me deaf on one ear, and on medication for the rest of my life, I was unable to resume the work and career I had set up for myself, and more about that in  later posts.

3, Choices: I could not control the event, however I could control how I reacted to the event, and so can you. I am not saying I choose to react in the most constructive way at time, but truth to be told we always have a choice to make in any given situation. We choose how to react, and what to do and say. For example, we can react in anger or joy, in desperation or in a creative “lets get it done mood”, we can be angry and depressed or we can be happy that we have the ability to take action.

4, Action: I can inspire, guide, give advice, however at the end of the day it is ultimately up to you to change your reality. Will you fall into the majority of my clients, who for years read blogs, bought books and dvds on the topic they want to change, and then never did anything with it.

Fact: Most people I meet have had the information to change anything they wanted, and even in some cases almost a self written step by step manual on how to reach their goals, and still didn’t change a thing…. WHY?

Because it took action, and they choose not to change!

As the old saying goes “You can lead a horse to the water, but you can not make them drink”

My second question to you is:

Are you going to lay down on your couch, or the floor and feel sorry for yourself?

OR

Are you going to take action, and build a new future for you and your loved ones?
