If God gave you one of His most precious gifts, would you treasure it as such? Yes, I know, some of you are freaking out because I mentioned God in a sentence. Let’s just imagine for a moment for the sake of this question that there is a being who cares about you unconditionally. For all your mistakes and misdeeds, they just keep on loving you. Would you treasure that gift?

Or would you regard it with disdain as if you had not asked for the gift in the first place? Or would you feel it as a burden, as if you had to repay this gift? Would you neglect it or handle it with the greatest care? Would you disrespect the gift as if it were not enough? Or would you be completely uncaring as if the gift came from no where?

The gift might be a talent, a friend, a mother, a sum of money, a much needed item, a not needed item, etc. Would you treasure it? As a gift from someone who has been only faithful, trustworthy, and loving – could we perhaps appreciate what we have more?

Everyone does it. Everyone at some point neglects their gifts.

Some of us do not even recognize the gift.
